Hi, I’m Roger.
I’ve been where you are — working long hours, managing a demanding career, and trying to raise a family … all while navigating big financial decisions. I specialize in helping high-achieving, mid-to-senior level professionals gain clarity, control, and confidence with their finances. Let’s work together to build the future you envision.
My Background Story
How It Started
You could say I became a financial planner by accident. Early in my career, I largely ignored my personal finances and was terrified of investing, thinking that as long as I earned a healthy salary, my finances would take care of themselves. That all changed after seven years in my investment banking career when an unexpected layoff turned my world upside down.
The situation forced me to confront my finances head-on and answer a number of critical questions all at once. How much money did I need to live on? How long could I afford to search for a job? What types of career opportunities made financial sense to me? And more broadly, was my existing savings working to get me closer to my goals?
What started out of necessity became a passion. I realized the peace of mind that comes from managing your finances thoughtfully — and I wanted to share that feeling with others. My experiences led me to earn my CFP® designation and eventually start my own firm in 2016.
My Unique Perspective
Drawing on 20 years of professional experience in the finance and technology industries, combined with a practical understanding of real-world challenges, I help clients make informed decisions in preparation of key life milestones, like starting a family, moving cities, changing jobs, saving for children’s college, and preparing for retirement. I know how to translate complex financial strategies into clear actions for your everyday life — a skill I’ve applied both while working in the corporate world as well as in my financial planning practice. I also recognize that while math can provide the “right” answer, it’s the personal and qualitative factors that will enable us to find the best solution for you and your family.

A Bit More About Me
After spending the first seven years of my career in investment banking, I took on strategy and analytics roles — working at Google for over a decade, followed by a stint at Capital One. Along the way, I earned my CFP® designation, launched my financial planning firm, and published the personal finance book, Work Your Money, Not Your Life (Wiley, 2020).
Originally from Pittsburgh (Go Pens and Steelers!), I lived in NYC for most of my adult life before relocating to Northern Virginia during the pandemic. These days, I enjoy exploring the DC area (mostly the ‘burbs) with my wife, Jenn, and our 5-year-old son, Owen. Outside of work, you’ll find me running, playing tennis, rowing, or hanging out with my two cats.
Let’s work together to build a financial plan that supports your extraordinary life.
